Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026 · Version 1.1

This privacy policy applies to the website complab.eu. It describes which personal data are processed when you visit the website, for what purpose, on what legal basis and for how long. The complab Platform, including the demo, has its own privacy policy (in German): app.complab.eu/datenschutz. This English version is provided for convenience; the German version is authoritative.

1. Controller

Prof. Dr. Manuel Beck
complab
Lindenstr. 30
69493 Hirschberg
Deutschland

E-mail: info@complab.eu

We have not appointed a data protection officer. Please send privacy enquiries to the e-mail address above.

2. Visiting the website

The website is a static site without accounts, forms or comment functions.

When you open a page, our host’s web server (section 6) necessarily processes your IP address to deliver the page to your browser. The host keeps access logs with a shortened IP address (for IPv4 only the first two blocks, e.g. 82.98.0.0), time, requested address, amount of data transferred, referring page and browser identifier. They serve secure operation (error analysis, preventing abuse) and an access statistic: once a day, a script on the server counts the previous day’s requests (page views per page, requests for the film, visits to the demo and whether they came from this website, referring websites without their page address, campaign tags in the address, addresses not found, and the number of requests by search engines and link previews) and keeps only these totals — no IP addresses, no browser identifiers and no individual visits.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the website securely and reliably and in knowing its reach (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You are not obliged to provide any data, but without your IP address the website cannot be delivered.

3. No cookies, no tracking, no third-party content

The website sets no cookies, stores no data in your browser’s storage (local storage, session storage) and uses no analytics, tracking or advertising services. Your browser merely keeps the website’s files in its cache, as usual. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making. The access statistic described in section 2 is produced on the server from the access logs alone; it does not recognise returning visitors or follow paths through the website.

Fonts, images and the film on the home page are served from our own server. No content is loaded from third-party servers when you visit; the website’s Content Security Policy technically prevents it.

Opening complab.eu redirects you to the German version on the server; your browser’s language is not evaluated for this.

4. Links to other websites

Some links lead to other websites:

  • “View demo” opens the complab Platform, which has its own privacy policy (app.complab.eu/datenschutz).
  • Other links lead to our LinkedIn profile and to the results page of the WiWo Best of Technology Award.

These links are plain references: no data flows to the provider until you click a link and open their page. Their own privacy notices apply there.

5. Contacting us by e-mail

If you write to info@complab.eu, we process your e-mail address and the information you provide (for example a phone number for a call back) to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns a contract, otherwise our legitimate interest in answering it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Providing this information is voluntary. Without your e-mail address we cannot reply; we only need a phone number if you would like a call back.

6. Recipients

The website and our mailbox are hosted by Uberspace (represented by Jonas Pasche, Kaiserstr. 15, 55116 Mainz, Germany). Uberspace processes the data as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR) and, under its contract, only in Germany, the EU or the EEA.

We do not transfer data to countries outside the EU or the EEA. There are no other recipients.

7. Storage period

  • Access logs: the host deletes them after 7 days. The daily totals counted from them contain no IP addresses, browser identifiers or details of individual visits and are kept without a time limit.
  • E-mail enquiries: we delete them once the enquiry is settled. If we have to keep an enquiry because it belongs to a contract or an invoice, we store it until the statutory retention period ends (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR; up to six years for business correspondence and up to eight years for invoices and other accounting records, counted from the end of the calendar year) and then delete it.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). To exercise them, contact info@complab.eu.

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (sections 2 and 5), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then stop processing the data unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority responsible for us: Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy describes the website as of the date above. If the website changes in a way that affects the processing of personal data, we publish an updated version with a new version number.
